How to warn user to wait until calculations are done

From how your question is phrased, then it sounds like it is not possible in the way your workbook is currently set up.

Would an acceptable solution be to set your calculation mode to manual, and then have a button to recalculate? This would result in no delay as users make a change (and no instant recalc), but when the button is pressed, you could display a userform showing your warning, perform a recalc, then hide the userform and pass control back to the user once the file has been recalculated.
