    2 functions one cell

    Hi Guys,
I just posted this in the newbie thread, someoe suggested it belongs here as VBA may be the solution.
Im brand new here, 1st post hope you can help.

I have a workbook with a series of values i want to copy across. Its for monthly payroll
eg Cell H6 displays the value in A6 (=A6) (salary in feb is the same as in Jan)
Cell O6 displays the value in H6 (=H6) and so on. (salary in march is the same as feb)

If i amend a salary in march this copies acros subsequent months which is great, but if i then amend the salary from a previous month (say jan) this only copies as far as march as I have overtyped the formula.

Is there a way to allow me to overtype a value so subsequent months copy, but if i subsequently change a value in a month prior, the formula will once again copy right across the sheet?
    I hope that makes sense,
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

There might be a way to do this with formulas, not sure. But it would help to see your file and how it's organized. Can you post a sample that removes any private data (i.e., remove employee names, ID numbers, etc.)?

Also, it's not clear to me what happens if the salary changes twice. If you amend a salary in March, and then amend it January, it sounds like you want the January change to nullify the change you did for March. But it seems that there are scenarios where you could have two salary updates in the same year and you need to keep both. Can you explain a little more what the business process is here, in addition to just what's happening in cells?

The paper clip icon does not work for attachments. To attach a file, under the text box where you type your reply click the Go Advanced button. On the next screen scroll down and click on Manage Attachments, which will show a pop-up window to Select and Upload a file. Then close the window.

    Hi 6stringjazzer,
I think I have attached the file, hope its worked.
Thanks for your help, you are correct in your understanding. The attached shows monthly payroll for members of my teams(names and locations removed). the year is from Oct-Sept.
I want to be able to play around with payroll to see what the overall effect is on the year. So like you say, a change in a given month (say Feb) should copy across all subsequent months (Feb-Sept), but not previous months (Oct-Jan..
However if i make another change to a previous month (say Dec) I want this to copy across from Dec-Sept thereby nullifying the original change I made to Feb.

This should apply to all cells marked in yellow,
    Can you help?
    Thanks,
    Joe
