    Move Character in cell

I was just curious if there was a way to take all the values that have a minus sign on the right side of a cell and put it at the front? I downloaded a spreadsheet from my bank. all the negative values are formated
    for example:
    $1234.00 -

    instead of:
    -$1234.00

so excel doens't see them as negative numbers. I think it sees them as text because there's a space between the number and the negative sign.

I'm sure there has to be a way to move that character with out copy/pasting each value manually. The main problem is the values all are different length. I'm not sure how to handle that. Any one have any ideas? Thanks, Ian

If these numbers are all in a single column, then select that column and then call up the Text To Columns dialog box (Data tab, Data Tools panel), select Delimited on the first dialog sheet and click the Next button... on the second dialog sheet, make sure the Space checkbox is not checked and then click the Finish button. Ignore the format the numbers appear as and Custom Format the cell to look the way you want.
