VBA not working with office 2007 Enterprise - Wndows 8.1 OS

Hi all

My first post and hopefully you have some guidance and way to solve my problem within Excel

Just installed windows 8.1 which I have never used before and then installed office 2007 Enterprise via a C/D that I have used
with windows XP and 7 Pro and had no problems with them

I have some templates I did way back in 2003, they have worked with no issues Office 2007 on those XP and win 7 P/Cs

Templates are complex in that there is like 20 sheets, 3 are data sheets and the others are charts.
These were made mostly in recording while using the Excel program
Also has one MACRO

Templates were saved as type using MACROs

Loading a template on Win 8.1 in Excel 2007 the one MACRO works but none of the VBA objects
None of the VBA functions work and no type of errors appear

I turned off MACRO security protection and checked marked to allow VBA in Excel options and still VBA not working
I checked in Add-Ins of Excel and the one for VBA is installed
I checked trusted sources in Excel options and use of VBA is checked

Via Excel I can click on VBA ICON, it does bring that screen up and all the objects for VBA of template show there but even clicking on run the only process that works is the 1 MACRO

Why are my templates working just fine also using office 2007 in XP and win 7 but not on this P/C using windows 8.1 ?

What am I missing and how to debug and solve this as I really need those templates fully functional ? ?

By the extension of RebelOvt19.xls I see that it is not a macro enabled file, because that should be .xlsm.

@Mrrr, If it is .xls then it is the old file format (pre 2007) and is macro enabled, you are thinking of .xlsx

Oh, I'm not used to those, wasn't working with macros back when I was using Office XP/2003. My bad.

What about Tools - References?
Since it's a new install, could it be that some libraries are not enabled?

It is possible but the OP hasn't said anything about what (if any) error messages they are receiving or showing what is in the module. The only screenshot they have shown only contains text that can be deleted.

Until they do give more details then I can't see there is much we can do to help.

They are templates saved as with macro
I would not know what references should be seen in tools but here is the ones that are checkmarked

I have several different templates done many years ago but also with Excel 2007, service pack 3 and all work just fine
as mentioned in XP and Win 7 Pro

Not one of them function with this Win 8.1 but uses same office 2007 Enterprise. And the MACRO in templates work but again
VBA is not

Hello teamzr1,

You probably have Userforms in play within your Workbook. Try to install the "Microsoft Visual Basic for Application Extensibility 5.3" as well.

Where can I find a download for this that works on Windows 8.1 ?

I did a search and only find versions for older then 8.1

BTW I ran the office 2007 repair program but it found nothing wrong

On your Developer tab under security is trust access to the vba project object module checked (it might be what you meant in post one but just didn't use the exact wording in the post) and if you have any userforms what happens if under Tools -References you check Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library?

Other than that still would like to see what is in the Module in the workbook.

P.S. as far as I know all your programs should run in 8.1 including Excel, btw why have you got all those event codes up with nothing in them?

Also post the code that you are expecting to run that isn't.

1. checking the box in reference for MS forms 2.0 object library did nothing, VBA objects still do not work
2. Yes security trust is check marked and so is to allow all macros without any security


There is no userforms I do not think all my templates were done via recording to make changes to each sheet as to color,
ranges. etc

I checked on a XP basd P/C and ran the same template and all works OK and
the objects content is the same as seen on the win 8.1 laptop that does not work as to VBA but 1 macro it has works

My templates I did were done way back in 2003 and always work in XP and win 7 pro
and those templates were copied to win 8.1 P/C exacting as they function in older MSwondows using the same Offic 2007 Enterprise
C/D install.

Please expand as to event codes ?

You can find Microsoft Visual Basic for Application Extensibility 5.3 also in Tools - References. Scroll down that list. It's Excel dependent, not Win 8.1 dependent.

Event code is what you have in posts 1 & 6 (1 is worksheet event code and 6 is workbook event code) but what you have is what triggers the code to run but no code inside it to run. For instance you have Private Sub Worksheet_Activate() which triggers when the worksheet is activated but there is no code inside it so it will trigger then do nothing and the same for all the other lines showing.

The code inside the module that is showing in post number one and you are stating lines like

VBA is the code inside modules (strictly speaking it is the language the code is written in) so post whatever VBA/code it is that isn't working.

I did add that and then in VBA saved that .XLTM and then loaded that template in excel and no changes

Even imported data into the template sheets cells and made sure was recalculated again and still only the 1 macro worked but all the VBA objects of
the data sheets or charts did not reformat, change cells colors, etc and no errors appear.

If you have just installed this copy of Excel 2007 on the computer, it might be that you don't have all the updates for it, and as Microsoft no longer support this version I'm not sure how you would get them.

Check on Control Panel | Programs and Features | Installed Updates for a list of all updates - I have loads for my installation.
