    MS Project Functionality in Excel

Hi, has anyone created MS Project like schedule in Excel? I am specifically interested in modelling the dependencies i.e. Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish and Start-to-Finish.

I have been able to model the functionality with one predecessor but I think Macro is required for more than 1 dependencies.

I'd appreciate if you can share your thoughts.

    Thanks, Nick.

MS project is itself a very robust programme.

Depending on how much of MS project you want to have in Excel, the complexity increases.

In order to get more than 1 dependencies, for some simpler ones you can have the start date etc as a formula like If formula - to get you max of the available values. If you need more complex one, I believe, will surely require a macro. Again, the more functions of project you want on excel the harder it becomes.

If you need critical path, see attached sheet. This lets you define the predecessors as well.

If you are just after the Gantt Chart, or to have something to start with, some templates are available here

Please find attached file with 11number of predecessors, you could add more also accordingly one required to adjust formulas in the corresponding column; dependency and link are the basic to define start and end dates on this attached table; you need start date of the first activity, the beginning date and very first activity with no dependency/link......... Note: actual start date also added, actual end date is as per defined duration with formula for the desired end date, but in reality when we put up actual end date the follow on activities all to be adjusted for the start and end dates with different formulas, required guidance from experts.......
