    Pie Chart exploding

I have two separate (though related) issues regarding Excel pie charts, but am filing them separately to keep responses straight.

When exploding a pie segment from the main pie chart, I have noticed that the main body shrinks while the exploded segment withdraws. It, too, shrinks slightly, but not as significantly as the body.

I recognize that Excel charts were designed for static display, not real-time animation using VBA, so this is a fact of life I must live with and adapt to. However, I know there is an incredible list of methods and properties for Excel charts, and I'm wondering if anyone with wider experience than mine has encountered something that might assist here.

I have played with adjusting the size of the plotarea, trying to keep the size of the main pie the same as it shrinks in proportion. That turned out to be very complicated and I could find any that would tell me what the actual diameter of the pie itself was to maintain its apparent size.

So, can this be done, or should I just accept the standard functionality?

Suggestions, por favor? I appreciate the help.

Attaching a sample Excel file might help.

Okay. Try this one. Open it and press the red/orange button. That will demonstrate the effect I'm trying to overcome.

    Thanks

    Re: Pie Chart exploding

FASSinating. Yes, testing on my original worksheet shows that the main pie stays the same size during all explosions and collapses when using a flat image. Not exactly the solution I was hoping for.

*Sigh* My only complaint would be cosmetic. The 3D chart has more visual appeal (aside from the shrinkage issue). I think it depends on which my users would prefer. I should be able to offer both as an option.

I'll have to run further tests to see if it also contributes to a solution for my other post on this topic.
