value copied to clipboard now gives "[][]" (but still copies fine to dict->csv)

I have two subs for copying data from a cell where I want to copy only a selected substring, so it makes use of regex or other functions below. For this question, that fact can be ignored.

They were working exquisitely before, and I dind't change naything, and now when I use the macro, it pastes [][] in my clipboard. I can see my clipboard history when I type win+v and it shows the [][] characters. You can look at the first sub below because it doesn't use regex so you know that's not the issue, and it was working before. That's the first I noticed started to fail. It's a much simpler setup. But when I do the second one below, but instead of copying to clipboard but sending the info to a dictionary and then to a csv, it works fine, so I know it extracts the right values.

Why does clipboard start showing and pasting [][] instead of the number I intend to copy? Has anybody ever encountered this?

There's a bug with the DataObject that can cause that in Win8 or later if you have Explorer windows open. Using API calls is safer.

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, at least it's a change of scenery

For now I closed the windows explorer. Later I may practice with API calls
