Question Un-protected row insert, change to protected after data entry

    Hello, everyone!

I am trying to write some Macro for having a form in Excel which allows one to insert a new row via pressing a button wherever he or she would like within the table parameters, make each added row un-protected which changes into being protected once data has been entered into the row cells. I admit, I am not very familiar with Macro commands or with the VBA Window, and I truly need some help! I am taking courses to become better-equipped to work with Excel in more advanced circumstances, but I am still far from knowing about how to write what I need to in order to get the product my team requires.

There is a major issue with people adding in content into our current email tracker, as they remove formatting, type over existing entries, entirely delete rows, cells, and columns, and have even made all entries reflective of their new information entry on their new row. This has to stop, and they are not wanting to learn any "new and advanced" technological tricks to data entry, making it a difficult tracker to keep a handle on.

I desperately need help to get this up and running as soon as possible, as the information being current and accurate in this tracker is critical to getting loan documents out to our Dealers!

(Data has been fabricated entirely in this attachment; password for document is 123.)

    Thank you so, so much!,

Re: Un-protected row insert, change to protected after data entry

    A few clarification questions:
    1) Would a user ever have to go back and edit a record once added?
    2) Is there a reason for the data having to be added in a specific row rather than just tagged on the end of the list?

    Beth.

Re: Un-protected row insert, change to protected after data entry

    Good morning, Beth!,

    Thank you for your response!
    1) Should a user accidentally input his/her data into the cell(s) he created incorrectly, or if he hits the Enter/Tab key prematurely, the ability to go back and edit needs to be accessible, even if he has to key in a password to lift the protection momentarily. A second important reason for this editing function is that the information that is being entered into this workbook is sometimes out-of-date; the moment a Dealer makes a new e-mail, or if he passes and his successor is now in charge of the Dealership, those updates need to be made immediately upon receiving the fresh information.
    2) This is not a necessity -- I just need it to sort alphabetically, while maintaining the data fields properly and securely.

    Thank you again!!,
