Identify icon in a conditional formatted cell

A simplified context for my problem is as follows:
In one workbook, Cell A1 has the change in the rat population in the past year and is conditionally formatted with the 3 arrow icon set (green arrow, yellow arrow and red arrow) where a value greater than 0 is red arrow, a value of 0 is a yellow tick and a value less than 0 is a green arrow. Then in another workbook I have Cell A1 holding the change in the bee population in the past year, and is similarly formatted but a value greater than 0 is now a green arrow, and a value less than 0 is a red arrow. Then in a third workbook I want to create a function that allows me to identify the icon used in the other workbooks. So something like IdentifyIcon('C:\[rat.xlsx]Sheet1'!A1) would return the icon number or icon name of that cell.

So something like the following function:

But instead of identifying the color of the cell, I need to identify the icon.

My actual task is that I have several workbooks with many conditionally formatted cells all with different rules but leading to the same 3 icons.

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however you need to include code tags around your code.

Please take a moment to add the tags. Posting code between tags makes your code much easier to read and copy for testing, and it also maintains VBA formatting.

Please see Forum Rule #2 about code tags and adjust accordingly. Click on Edit to open your post, then highlight your code and click the # icon at the top of your post window. More information about these and other tags can be found here

I did it for you this time. Please read forum rules. Thanks
