Model Construction Help with Solver Please!

    Hello,

I'm hoping to use Solver to optimize order quantities by size.

In the example here, let's say we are looking to order 300 units. The first screen shot shows ideal order quantities by size based on sell-thru metrics (% of TTL x quantity desired). However, let's say the supplier only has 50 units available of each size. I'd like to optimize sell-thru and adjust order quantities as necessary. The second screenshot show the parameters I have tried. With these parameters, the results I'm getting seem skewed with quantities of 50 and 0 (or 50, 47 and 1 when constraining values to >1). Based on the unconstrained results shared previously, I feel like I should be seeing size 27 and 28 with 50 units ordered and the excess desired being reallocated to other sizes with high sell thru in a more even distribution.

Can someone help modify my model?

    Thank you

You sure you need solver? It's much easier to do a manual calculation. And as there is no price difference solver is not your best choice unless you can set up ratio rules.

thank you. thought solver may be a better solution because I'm hoping to use this as a template and be able to update quantities available by size. Usually there is an uneven distribution available so in this case doesnt the ratio only work with quantities set equal at 50 for every size?

OK just for fun I set up a solver model based on ratio.
