    How to freeze a shape

    Hi community,

I am trying to build a navigation bar in Excel.
I have a rectangle shape in range A1 to C41 and part of the shape is on a freeze pane.
My problem is, when I scroll down, the shape moves. I want it to be fixed where it is.
    How can I achieve that?

When you scroll, the screen moves, not the shape. If you want the entire shape to stay on the screen, you'll need to change the cell where you freeze the panes.

Can I ask the purpose for wanting the shape on the screen? There may be an alternate solution.

Re: How to freeze a shape

Hi thanks for getting back. The shape will be used as a navigation bar, I will later add buttons to it with specific functions. As you can see in the workbook, if you have downloaded it, I have frozen panes vertically and horizontally. Part of the shape is affected by the frozen top pane. When I scroll down, part of the shape disappears as obviously it is locked to the range A1:C4 (i have chosen that range because its my screen resolution). I am wondering if there is a solution of a floating shape, meaning it would stay in place even i scroll down, resize the workbook window, move the window etc. I have tried it with a modeless userform but its not the ideal solution. If I move the window, the userform doesnt move with it as it is fixed at a specific location of the screen and not the workbook itself. If you could suggest alternate solutions, I would be very happy as this is already beyond my Excel capacity.

If you need something that big, I'd suggest you use a separate worksheet to hold your navigation tools, and as the user goes to different locations, have a way for them to return to that navigation worksheet.

Have you posted this anywhere else?
If so, you need to show all the threads where you posted it so people are not working on your problem and wasting their valuable time while it has been solved somewhere else.

    Entschuldigung.
Sorry about that. There is a thread that's just about identical on another site, that's why I asked.

Have you thought about using a Modeless UserForm instead of a shape (it will float above the worksheet and not be affected by any navigation operations a user might perform)?

This is obvious I hope. Can you increase the freeze Area in either direction to accommodate your navigation bars?

Re: How to freeze a shape

Hi everyone thanks for all your comments, not sure if you know this Excel add-in from add-inn express about an advanced navigation pane. It's really cool. I would like to have a similar solution with shapes or userforms.

@Rick Rothstein yes, i did try it with a modeless userform but it's not ideal for me. I want the shape or userform to stick in range A1:C4. Would you know if there is a code for that?

    @jolivanes No worries, peace

Re: How to freeze a shape

So why not just increase row 1 width and place your shape within...Then freeze top Row...Or will that not work for you...

    Or how bout the attached...
Scroll down and click any cell...the shape will always appear in top left corner as default...Not quite sure what you want to do with this control...
