    Unhappy Add info from two sheets together indexed to a number

    Hello all,
    New to the forum...first thread. Hope someone can help with this.
    I've got two sheets...the first, sheet 1 has the first column with "competitor number"...AND...corresponding "competitor names" (in the second column) and the numbers are NOT sequentially sorted...Sheet 2 also has "competitor numbers" in the first column (lots of them), then a row of information in cells across multiple columns...but...no corresponding "competitor names"!

    How do I go through the whole of Sheet 2 (there are approx 8000 entries) and using Sheet 1, find the associated number/name association, then go back to sheet 2 and add the name that was found in sheet 1 (associated with that number) in the appropriate row on Sheet 2?

    I've fiddled about with macros and don't have much hair left on my head....my fingernails are down to the nubs.....HELP!

    Thanks Dante....I'm reading about VLOOKUP and it looks like a solution, but I don't see anything about a repeated lookup down the first column until all the rows have been indexed and have an associated name...is there other code you need to add to make the "lookup" keep "looking up" down the first column?

    Just copy the formula down.
    If you have trouble creating the formula upload a copy of your book (see the thread header to upload a file).
