Add-in compile error "System Error &H8000FFFF (-2147418113)"

Hi All,
I have an add-in which creates a custom ribbon. This works well on many machines running Office 2007, 2010 and 365.
All machines are running 32bit versions on a mixture of 64bit Windows 7 and Windows 10.

There is one machine running W7/Office 2010 which results a compile error.
What happens is that it comes up with error "System Error &H8000FFFF (-2147418113)" for every sub which references the ribbon, e.g.

There's also the odd Out of Memory error.

Any idea so to what might be causing this? I don't think it's the code because it's this one machine that's affected.

more than likely if the error appears out of nowhere and does not happen in any other mirror-like scenarios with similar machines, it is probably a wonderful consequence of microsoft's quality products. that would be my guess. try these:

copy the file

copy the contents and paste it into a new file

restart excel

run cCleaner and restart that machine

and, if you asked any MS ""professional"", their default answer would probably be: i would recommend reinstalling office. LOL

I'll start by observing that Windows 7 and Office 2010 are both past their end-of-support dates. In other words, you're deliberately using technically obsolete software, which is the nicer way of saying you're begging for problems in the catastrophe lottery, and you've got a winner.

There's more to configuration differences between PCs than Windows and Office versions. Does the machine in question have the same amount of RAM as the other Windows 7 machines? When was the last time anyone checked the state of its C: drive? [Bad disk sectors DO happen, and I once lost a day's work to some critical software component residing in a bad sector.] Not a bad idea to check RAM as well.

Assuming this isn't a hardware problem, how much free RAM and disk space does this PC have compared to others with Windows 7 and Office 2010 when one first logs in after a reboot/restart? When one PC has problems other PCs don't, it's almost always due to differences in configuration, namely, different background services running, possibly missed updates, other installed software, possibly also problems with installed Excel add-ins.
