Assigning group numbers with no duplicate

I am planning to create a VBA to help group students from the following criteria:
1. Gender ( at least 1 female in each group)
2. Grade (good mixture of each classification)
3. Type of course (equal number from each course, only 2 different course)
4. Based on a capped number of student per group

What I did was ask for input on the max number of student per group then assign female students to the group. If the maximum number of groups reach, it will stop assigning, so this fulfill having at least 1 female in each group

Now that I have assigned some student to certain group number, how do I exclude certain number when i loop through the list again?

Eg. I will now assign students with High Distinction into each group but if there is already one student in group 1 with high distinction, I should not assign group 1 again.
