Password for Items in a Dropdown List

Hello, I am having trouble creating a macro that password protects each individual item in my drop-down list. I would like each option in the drop-down to have a unique password to access the data.

This would save me a lot of time in sending out one file to four people versus four different files. Does anyone have a solution to this?

    I appreciate any help!!

The dropdown is located in Cell A5. For whatever is chosen from the dropdown in A5, I would like a password to be required contingent on that dropdown. Please let me know if that makes sense.

It makes sense apart from the fact there is not a dropdown box in A5, from your attachment you have 2 sheets, tables and variences, all information looks to be inputted manually with no code to link it? tables lists different departments, and the varience sheet shows data monthly by various means, are you asking for, 1) the user chooses his/her department and can view the data relevant to that department and cannot view another department because that will be protected,2) is all the data for all departments entered on one sheet or will there be a different sheet for each departments data?

I will help you sort it if the above is what you want, but please give as much information as possible of what you would like to achieve

Re: Password for Items in a Dropdown List

Oh I see your question. In my real file, I have data pulling from one large database with nested if statements based on the dropdown's chosen department.

I did not include any of that in the sample file because it is confidential data, and the data itself is really not pertinent to the issue. I have no issue linking the data. I just need to figure out a way to password protect each drop down. In my real file, there is code in all of the data cells. The code links to a "Raw Data" sheet that I export from a database.

I can upload a new sample file if the data part needs to be more similar to my real file.

    Sorry for off-topic interjection:

Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

I'm sure you understand, and we look forward to seeing you post your formulas/macros in your posts for the searching benefit of all.
