How do I find which chartseries is represented by ActiveChart.FullSeriesCollection(1)

I have a chart that will use data with 9 rows and 12 monthly columns. Because 9 series are really too many to look at and deal together
I want to use code like:-

to enable the user to look at separate groups of 3 series.
The problem I have is to know which of the series the Index No refers to.. How can I find out? Can I be sure that the index no of a particular series will not change with the use of Isvisible code. It does change if you use Cut

Perhaps it would help if I sent a sample of what I mean.

TMS, Thanks for your interest and suggestion. It has helped me greatly.
I have used your basic idea to give me the list of names and if a category name (TAPE LABEL TOTAL) is found I use ISFiltered=True to hide them.
It works well so Thanks very much
