Enhance (accelerate) code to replace multiple special characters in large dataset

Goodday experts,

This code works really well in within a small range.
The code checks every character in a range, replaces all special characters, and enters the "cleaned" value in the next cell.

Unfortunately my range has expanded considerably and has now over 100.000 characters.
With current code it takes a really long time to complete.

Can anyone help me to find a way to speed up this process?

Does making the calculation manual and stop updating the screen make any difference? times to run the code would be interesting to see the impact of changes
