Which of these two VBA options?

Hi all, if I want to learn to build Excel VBA apps, there are the below two books. However I don't know which one to read first. Can you please review the table of contents of both and advise me?

I know some of you may say it is obvious - and to choose the Excel VBA Programming first but I want to know if there would be any reason to start with VBA For Dummies first in your opinion.

    VBA For Dummies

    or

    Excel VBA Programming For Dummies

    Hi Chin,

If this is the only two choices, I'd go with the second. Although I really like the author of John Walkenbach better.
Also after programming for many years I find there are lots of styles and Paul Kelly is my current favorite.

    .
My vote is for the first book.

But then ... nothing beats building your own first app by jumping in with sample code and changing it to fit your needs. Coming here for help when needed.
Hands on has always been best for me. Studying the code ... dissecting it ... making it do what I want. As time goes by, what you have learned from
practical application quickly becomes second hand knowledge.

But then ... that's just me.

    Best wishes on your journey.

Re: Which of these two VBA options?

If comparing those two books notice that one is written for 2007 and the other for 2013 thru 2019.
Whilst the VBA syntax will be the same the object model will have developed over the 10 years between books.

The first book appears to go into more detail on topics for the experienced coder.

Where as the second appears to cover the built-in objects in more detail.

I would go with the second book and make use of forum/google to discover the detail, if not in the book you end up choosing.
    Cheers
