Visio (standard) to use Excel data in its shapes

Hi;

There is very nice possibility to run external Windows applications from Visio, taking parameters from Shapes (Shape data), fully managed by Visual Basic.

As higher Visio(s) have the Data Menu possibilities, the Standard one has not, that possibility to have ("live") link between it's Shape data and Excel workbook.

Question is related to the possibility to create the link between Visio (Standard) and Excel; to make Shape data being taken from an Excel file table, making that by using Visual Basic.

I have to ask if anybody tried that?

Asking again, anybody has experience linking data at two MS applications in this case, Excel and Visio, Visio has ShapeSheet where all Shape data is being configured, including all related details.

Links of those fields at the ShapeSheet to Excel tables, to populate them with data from Excel, would be very, very helpful.

Anybody has experience with this?
