Question Macro for data tables in financial model slowing down excel

    Hello,

I have a large financial model with 4 P&L's and data tables next to them with two variables. The data tables seem to slow down the model and crashes it on some occasions, even when calculation options are set to Manual or "except data tables". I would, therefore, like to create two buttons with a macro attached to it:
    - Load data table (I basically want my data table to be empty when opening and working on the file, so that I have full performance, then be able to load it)
    - Delete data table (once I had a look at the data table and taken a screenshot, I want to delete it again to get full performance back)

Can someone help me with an existing code for this or an alternative solution? Unfortunately I am not allowed to share the file.

    Thank you in advance!

Re: Macro for data tables in financial model slowing down excel

    Welcome to the forum.

I doubt anyone can help based on the information provided. You may know what the workbook, worksheet(s) and data looks like, but we don't.

We have no idea what could be slowing down your model, and won't have unless we can see it, so we can't offer any optimisation.

And we don't know the structure of the data table so we can't provide code to load and/or clear it.

Please see the yellow banner at the top of the screen and upload a sample workbook explaining what you want to achieve.

Re: Macro for data tables in financial model slowing down excel

    Hello Trevor,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have attached one data table with the P&L that is in my financial model. As an illustration I have left the data in the table in, which is what slows the big model down. It would be great to have a solution where the data table is empty, and could be loaded and erased by the buttons with macros below. Thank you in advance for the help!

    Greetings to Manchester!

    OK, here's the code:

I'd suggest you move the buttons to the top of the sheet above the table, as in the attached updated workbook. I have assigned the macros to both sets of buttons, so have a play and see which you prefer.
