Post VBA code to access personal website

    Hey all,
just felt comfortable enough to join this forum since my skill are okay.
I am trying to write VBA to access a website to make my life easy at work.

Below is a list of what I want to accomplish. Please note that I have to redact some of the details due to the sensitive nature of my work. Not to sound suspicious but I must protect my clients.

    1. Access the webpage
    2. Login with my credentials
    3. Navigate to a certain segment of the webpage.
    4. Click on an Icon/image (this will open a subsequent box)
    5. Insert a comment and click an icon to enter the comment.

I was able to do steps 1-3 but got stuck on number 4. When I look at the source code for the webpage the ID for each icon is different. I was wondering if I was able to use the img alt or src to click the icon? Or is there another way to click an image link in IE?

Another question as well, when trying to access a certain field do I need to code for each layer in the webpage? When I try to use an ID it gives me a run script error 424 object required which I believe is an access issue?

sorry if I seem like a noob, any help or being pointed in the right direction would be appreciate! thanks in advance.

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. As you are new here, I have done it for you today.)

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook and post the code in your next post.

Sorry i was just double checking that all the personal information was removed. Not sure if i did it right, I can not show too much of the calculations since it is accessing a website with sensitive information
