Can Power Query retain data and add in new data from an updating file source?

    Hello all!

I have a question that needs some answering. I am setting up a file path to a bunch of raw data for a report. This file (csv) is refreshed everyday and pulls the previous day data (this means the data previously in the folder is overwritten) to get a recap of the previous day. I currently run a power query to organize the data in the format needed for my visualization to work, but wanted to know if power query can save that data based on date in case a Month to Date report or summary is needed.

My question is, is it possible for the power query connected to the csv file that refreshes everyday to save the data already pulled in and then add in and format the new data to the power query rows?

Application >> CSV File >> Power Query >> Report

Any help or insight on this is appreciated.

I suspect you need to look at a transactional database for that to work.
    An alternate solution may be:
    - Link PowerBI to a folder, rather than a file. You can then set up a query to append the data within the folder
    - Each day add the new CSV into that folder with a new filename but with the same structure

Slightly inefficient as it will involve loading/transforming the historic data repetitively, but could be workable depending on your data size and setup
