Excel page in Multi-Page control has phantom controls

I have a multi-page control that claims to have a whole set of controls that I have previously deleted.
As a result, when I try to add a new control (which happens to have the same name as one of the deleted controls) I get an error.

I understand that Excel really believes these controls are there (when I try to set the Tab order, they all show up). However, I cannot see them, so I can't select them and delete them.

    Any ideas?

I suspect this happened during one of those unexpected crashes where you have a variety of possible versions to recover from, and I selected the wrong one (many iterations ago:-( )

select the mutlipage control, select one of the pages, then use the dropdown within the properties window to see the controls contained within,

You can select from the list and then either delete or reset left/top values to 1 so it comes into view, select and delete

Re: Excel page in Multi-Page control has phantom controls

    Thanks, Andy,

I found that every time I tried to select one of the phantom controls, I couldn't see it 'picked out' on the form. I'd forgotten that Excel sometimes 'parks them in East Kajunga to avoid cluttering the form! I ended up by copying the controls I did want onto a new page, and then making certain that the names were all the same, and finally deleting the original page.

How convenient that when Excel deletes a control it leaves all the code for event handlers hanging around!

Takeaway for me is that when there are phantom controls they can still be managed (but not deleted) from the Properties panel. Setting Top and Left to 1 will bring them into view, whence they can be safely dispatched!

    I love this forum!
