Running an excel spreadsheet from a website

    Hello Everyone,

Is it possible to run an excel macro from a spreadsheet that resides on a
company intranet site. I have client that wants set this up so that the
macro runs and saves the resulting file to the user's desktop. I don't think
this is possible because of the browser security issues, but they swear it
    is possible to do.

I was wondering if any one has done anything like this and if they could
give me help on it. Thanks.

    JD,
I currently have the same thing, I have a templete that they can open from the web. It opens in there web browser, and then they can do what they want with
it and eventually save a local copy.

Any way, to run the macros in this type of situation, you have a couple of options.
There is a client setting in excel that each client would need to set.
    Tools/Macro/security
then set it to Medium (this will promt the user to enable macros or disable them)
If you set to low(not reccommended, it will not ask and just runs them.
For me this is only a tempory solution to the problem, as you really dont want
users to set their securty this low.

What you need to do is digitally assign a certificate to the macro. Here is a web
site that i was looking at. You can either apply for one or create a signiture yourself with the Selfcert.exe, that can be found in windows OS (not sure if every
    OS has it)
    This is for Selfcert.exe

this is just information about digital signatures
