    Creating New Add-Ins

    Hello,

At the risk of asking a stupid question:

How do I create a new add-in? I tried to write my code in a '.xls' then saving it as a '.xla' Sadly, this did not work, so I guess it's not quite that simple.

Basically, I have a ton of macros that I have written over the years, and I would like to be able to call them from any open workbook. So, I want to put them all in an add-in so that they're always available.

    Thanks & Regards

Back in Excel 5.0, there was a menu item called "create add-in" or something to that effect in the VB editor window. Then, when I upgraded to 2002, I couldn't find that menu command. Eventually found that, in the "Save as" dialog box, one of the file type options in the dropdown list (at the very bottom of the list) is "Excell add-in." If you save it that way, it should work as any other add-in.
