    Lists

I want to be able to sort a data list based on a master list.

    For example,

    Master list:
    Item # Item
    1 Apple
    2 Banana
    3 Orange
    4 Grape

    My data list appears as:
    Item Count
    Orange 5
    Banana 3
    Grape 2
    Apple 1

How do I sort my data list to my Master List automatically, so the data list
appears in the exact same order as the master list? Of course the lists I'll
be using are quite long so I do not want to have to manually sort the data
    list.

    Thanks

Tools | Options... | Custom Lists Tab | Custom lists: New List | List
    entries:
    Apple, Banana, Orange, Grape

You can choose to import the Master List from an existing range so you only
have to put it in order once. Subsequently, if you need to update it ...
well add items where you need them.

When you sort the data, choose your custom list in the drop down box

Data | Sort | Options... | First key sort order
