Basic Compile Problem

Can anyone tell me why this code does not work in the immediate window

msgbox (Format (35988.3708, "currency"))

I get wrong number of arguments of invalid property assignment but that does not make sense. I'm pretty sure I have the right number of arguments.

Shouldn't the msgbox display $35,988.37 ?

Your code works fine for me in both a procedure and in the
Immediate window.
