    renumbering a column

    I have column like below

    serialno requester qty
    1. richard 6
    2. jack 4
    3. richard 3
    4. jack 3

Howver once I activated "Data/Filter/Autofilter" on requestor, I wish to have the "serialno" renumbered in sequence. Tq.

    RE: renumbering a column

Assume serial numbers are in column A starting in A2

    in A2 put in

    =Subtotal(3,$B$2:B2) & "."

then drag fill down the column.
