    Formatting number as British Pound

    hi,

I have a program that pulls data from a database and puts it into
excel. This process occurs in the US and one of the fields is a
"currency" type and so the $ shows up.

The number in the spreadsheet actually represents the British Pound.
How can I programmatically format that column to show as "pounds"
instead of $? (The creation of the worksheet is done via the program
as well, so I can format the column and have it used as a template).

Is there a way to keep the column "numeric" without giving up the
    currency type?

    Thanks for any pointers,

    ZM

Right-Click Cells, Select Formatting... Currency... Symbol = English
    (United Kingdom)
