do you get the security message with another workbook?

what version for excel are you using?

what extactly is the security message saying?

are you sure you deleted all the macros? check by clicking on tools>macro>macros or by press shift + F8.

    ok...

    i'm running Excel 2003 SP3,

It only occurs in this particualr workbook, and

    the message says

"Macros in this workbook are disabled because the security level is high, and the macros have not been digitally signed or verified as safe. To run the macros, you can either get them signed or change your security level."

But there is no macros. i guess if worse comes to worse i'll just turn the security down

i would suggest shifting the security level down a notch. Change it to Medium that way you can still control wheither or not you would like to enable or disable macros.
