User Function with eternal link

I created a user Function that takes a range as argument. When I call this function in excel and reference the argument to an external workbook, the formula only works if the external workbook is open. Once I close it, the function returns #VALUE!.

How can I make my user formula to work with external links?

Compile your fucntion into XLA addin and put it in your XLSTART directory then you will not have to refernce another workbook. Your functions will then work just as easily as the SUM or AVERAGE functions that are built in to excel.
