Highlighting a cell when I enter data

I am kinda new at Excel, so I need to learn a little about it, Glad I found this forum.

I have worksheet that I use, and I want to have it set up so that when someone enters data into a cell the cell will change from white to red or green.

Like, |X if fueled | X | <-- the cell with the X in it will be white until someone puts an X in it once the X is there I want that cell to change colors to say Red.

I am not sure how to do this.

    Thanks for the help.

You should select the range of cells that you want to colour automatically, then select Format\Conditonal Formatting. Select a Formula and enter ="x", then select a colour you want the cell to change to.

    Click Format, Conditional formatting
If cell is less than 1 Format Red
    Add
If cell is greater than 1 Format green
    Best regards,
