Macro writing help

Hi,

Could anyone help me to write a macro that applies to a whole column and deletes the first value in every cell and also the last two. So if the cell read 14578
it would be left with 45. Or if it read 'phil2006' it would change to 'hil20'. This macro would also have to delete empty spaces if they were the first or last value in each cell.
