Calculating Dates from a Defined Name

    Hi,

I have a Defineed Name 'ReportDate' which I am subsequently trying to use to evaluate the number of days lapsed i.e.

    =ReportDate-G15

But I receive an error #Value! when I replace the ReportDate with a normal date its OK I checked that all the formats are the same - I am missing something?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

is the value in G15 greater than the date you are trying to use?

    Bryan,

Yes the value could be + or - should this matter?

    Thanks

    sanjay,

I'm sure Excel doesn't like negative times and I know it doesn't like negative dates, try testing first, and if it will not produce a positive answer put in zero, and if you do the subtraction the answer cell should not be a date.

However, having said that I could not reproduce the #Value, so if you still have a problem paste the formula, the G15 value and cell format again.

    Cheers

its strange if I reference a cell rather than a named value it works fine, anyway I've removed that and used the cell reference instead.

    Thanks

Strange indeed sanjay, I presume that was a single cell Named Range?

added I have finally created the #Value error, with a 2 cell range name.
