Question Macro Security Message when opening file, but I've removed the macro

The data file I use to import from had a macro, and now I've removed it. It has no macros, but I get a warning everytime I open the file now that there is a macro in the file, do I want to open the file, etc. I don't want to lower my security settings, I just want Excel to recognize there is no longer a macro in the file. If I save it as another file, it still gives the same message when opening the new file, so I'm out of ideas.

    Hi there,

It's because the module that contained the macro still exists. To delete it, do the following 7 steps:

    1. Open the relevant workbook
    2. Open the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11)
    3. Click the module that contained the macro (this will most probably be called Module1)
    4. From the File menu click Remove [module name you clicked on in step 3]
    5. Click the No button to the prompt message
    6. From the File menu click Close and Return to Microsoft Excel
    7. Save the workbook

    Cheers,

    Robert
