Optimizing a large data web query

I am trying to increase the speed with which my Excel web query "pulls" data from an online database. I routinely "pull" 14000 stat tables for college football players and it can take as long as 6 hrs. I can email the program to anyone whom can help. Thanks in advance.

I have read about using a large resultset, but am not sure how that plays out.

I assume there may be some config settings I can manipulate to improve the speed. I have checked a number of websites, but cannot find what I am looking for.
