    Cannot find macro

I've just changed my laptop and have loaded my copy of office 2003 on it.
Somewhere in the dim distant past someone told me to store all my macros on a workbook called "personal", to hide it and store it in XLstart so that they are always available whatever workbook is loaded.
This worked very well on the old machine, but now when trying to access the macros a message comes up with the the correct path to where "personal" is stored and the macros name but says it cannot find it, although its definately there, where I copied it from the old machine.
I have checked them and can get to them to edit them. but Excel still says it cannot find them.

    Can anyone help?

    Hi,

I just knew there was a reason that I didn't like (and don't use) Personal.xls,
    however, to your problem.

If you open Excel, and then File Open, type Personal.xls does it load the correct file (are the macro's there?)

If you then 'SaveAs' does Excel offer you the correct (same) folder that your Personal.xls is stored in? (ie, could you have two files Personal.xls and are causing confusion)

If you go to Tools, Macros, Macro, are the macros listed as just names, or are they listed by workbook, and is the workbook correct (for the only open, and therefore Active, workbook they should be listed just by name)

Can you successfully Run any/all of these macros?

    Any more clues?
