    Counting

    Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me with the following. We have an excel file and when we expand the list, because each client names are repeated in each line, I can not COUNT the customer numbers (in total there are approx.10K lines items in this excel file).
There must be a function in excel for doing that but I can not find it.

    Can someone help me?

    Good afternoon mojoman

    ...and welcome to the forum!

This ingenious formula from (I believe) David Hager should help :

    =SUM(1/COUNTIF(A1:A10000,A1:A10000))

This is an array formula, so use Ctrl + Alt + Enter to commit (not just Enter)

This assumes that your company names are contained in the range A1:A10000.
