How to rid myself of XP's "helpful info balloons"?

    Greetings all,

I have been doing a huge amount of work in Excel lately, and there are these "helpful" pop-up balloons where ever I pass the mouse curser over an entry with technical link information in them, and it is driving me crazy. This happens also in other apps and certain web pages, so I assume that it is a Windows XP source.

I have searched Excel help and options and can't find anything; using XP's help was fruitless (ok, nothing new there) so if anyone could tell me how to "turn off", hack the register, or whatever it takes to get rid of these annoying pop-up info-boxes (I don't even know the proper name for them!) I would be eternally grateful!

    Problem is links

Thanks Roy; I finally narrowed it down to the problem: it's hot links that get these pop-up info balloons. In my spreadsheets I have e-mail links with the client's name and every time I pass the curser over a link I get this pop-up. This this getting almost disorienting with these thing flashing at me as I pass the curser over them when I am editing or copying these. In addition, that darn balloon hides information under it, so I must move the cuser somewhere else to read the info it hides. I tried disabling Smart Tags but that did not stop it.

Any clue how to get rid of these? Thanks!
