What should be an easy question about highlighting rows ...

What I need to do is have three columns on a worksheet. If the entry in the third column is the letter X for flagging purposes, I want to highlight those three columns on that row only. I have been trying to get this using conditional formatting but can't seem to get it right..any help would be great.

assumng that your data starts in Row 3,in the Conditional formatting wizard place this in the Formula is box

    =$C2="x"

Click OK & close the Wizard

Copy the cell containing the Fprmat & then select the cells you want to extend the format to. then from the Edit menu select pastespecial & Formats.

    See http://www.excel-it.com/excel_condit...formatting.htm for more help.
    Hope that helps.

Ok this still does not work, if I put an x in the field on the first row, it highlights ALL the rows that I copied the formula to, not just the one the entry was made on.

Make sure you use $C2="x", not $C$2="x"
