Cannot insert remote .jpgs from remote site

I am trying to insert a picture from a remote website. My macro works with local files, but not remote files. Are they handled differently? I've verified the remote file is accessible with other tools, like paint.

    Hello Laura,

Your post title should have mentioned you wanted to download from the web. Remote access also includes intranet servers. Have a look at this site. It will explain code and gives you examples of how to use it.

    Hello Laura,

I did originally query the board on this issue (http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?p=1769314) but no one replied.

After literally two days of scouring the Internet to find a solution, I ended up downgrading back to Office 2003 and my macros work perfectly again.

As I noted in my original post, Microsoft is aware of the issue (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931395/en-us). I was unable to get the macro to function with their suggested workaround, however - they suggest "Use the Selection object to obtain the handle to the Picture object" but I could not find anywhere on the 'net that explained how to code a "selection object" into a macro. If you can figure that out, you might be able to get it to work.

Otherwise, all the other workarounds and methods listed on the internet (that I could find), explaining how to insert pictures into Excel from the internet, work fine for 2003 but not for Office 2007.

    Good luck!

    RLH
