Excel size getiing very large on small change

Hi all,

I have a excel which was 560Kb in size.
Today i made a small change on a column:->

I clicked on a column ->
Went to Data-> Validation-> Settings tab->Selected Allow List->SOurce: yes,No

I made this change to the cell and copied it to all cells.

After this change size of the excel sheet became 3Mb

Why is this happening?

now, every cell has data that excel needs to check when you enter data... more functions, more memory.

Earlier also there were Data:

But previously i was using defined names as

Source: = some_defined_name

Now i use Source : Yes,No

In the validation List.
Size increase from 560 Kb to 3 Mb when i made change to one column Is too much right. and i am making use of first 1000 cells.

Have you read the previous response, you don't add Data validation or Formulas to every cell.
