macro sorting drop down boxes

I need to make my spreadsheet work like a database where I can click on a heading and sort the information in ascending/descending or yes/no criteria.
I need to make drop down menus from the headings but have no idea how.
Any directions to tutorials would be much appreciated.

You can make drop downs using Data Validation, see

The sorting will require VBA, post back when you have mastered the lists, or simply use AutoFilter or the Sort command from the Data menu.
