    Question Question on "FreezePanel"

    Hi,

I want to freeze a single row and a single column of my excel report. I just selected the row and the column and clicked freeze panel menu item. Even I selected one row and one column, usually it create frozen panel with eight rows and eight columns.

Could you pls tell me how to freeze a single row and single column?

    Thanks & Regards!

I assume you're talking about the "Freeze Panes" option under the Window menu.

This option allows you to "freeze" the top and left-most rows/columns on your spreadsheet. You cannot freeze a row or column in the middle of your sheet and allow scrolling above or to the left of that area.

For example, if you just want to freeze Column A, select cell B1 and choose Window -> Freeze Panes.

If you want to freeze just Row 1, select cell A2 and do the same.

If you want to freeze Column A *AND* Row 1, select cell B2 and use Freeze Panes.

If you want to freeze Columns A and B *AND* Rows 1 through 3, select cell C4...

Essentially, the Freeze Panes option freezes anything above and to the left of the currently selected cell.

Just adding to Paul's answer, if you wanted column B to display but not column A, you could click on column A, right click and select Hide, then only column B is displayed.
