    Referencing two IF statements

    Hello,

I am having an utter blank after years of Excel rustiness.

I am trying to create a front page for a spreadsheet. There are 4 tabs of data (one for each person), various headers (some financial, some option chosen from a drop down). The front page I want to be able to select data from the others.

So, person x (tab2) would be selected from a list, then I could choose say, 'value at handover' as one of the headlines and it would take into consideration the reference to tab2 and a cell reference on it, based on both the variables. There are a number of calculations I am trying to make, but each is merely 2 variables, Person's name, type/value of account.

I am sure this might have a straightforward solution, but can't grasp it.

The screenshot doesn't help mutch. However the solution will undoubtedly be accomplished by using a combination of =INDIRECT() and =VLOOKUP() or possibly =MATCH() with an =INDEX()

The =INDIRECT will allow you to use the name of the person selected and build this into the bit of the VLOOKUP that requires the sheet name.

Depending on the layout of your data the VLOOKUP should enable you to pick up the account and value.
