    Combo/List list walkthorugh

    Hi all,

Desperately need some help here to get started. I need to create a pull down validation list that when the user enters for example the letter 'T' the list only contains items beginning with 't' and when they enter 'to' it only shows those beginning with 'to' etc. When an item is selected it needs to fill a cell on the page.
The use for this is for a sales page where the salesman can very quickly enter sales.
I'm a complete novice with combo/list boxes and did have a good search on the forum but couldn't find the right info.

    All help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Chris

    Hi Charles,
I tried looking at your workbook but when my cursor goes over the combo box, I get an error message "Invalid Outside Procedure" which I looked up and that occurs when "An executable statement, Static or ReDim, appears at module level." Is this because I am using Excel 2000?

    Hello Charles,

Your macro code is not needed for the ComboBox to work properly. You should delete this code as it is incorrect and confusing to new programmers.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    Leith Ross,

Thanks, I re-posted the program without the code. I erred (forgot to remove code) when I sent the first post.

Thanks for the help guys. I have a little knowledge of VB but still couldn't understand the code in that first example!
The second example is a good start. First question i have is where did you reference Sheet2 A1:A7 in the combobox? I know where the dates come from but not how you referenced them.

My second question is once the user selects an item from the list, how can i use that input or can i have that 'fill' another cell, say cell A3 on the example.

    Thanks and regards,

    Chris
