creating a Input message box asking name then only the excel file should get opened

can I create any message (Input value) box which will be appeared whenever we open that Excel file. It will ask my initial (say ss_bb_24) & after writing that only that excel file should open.

There will be one place in one sheet (say name "index") mentioned "Prepared by" - ss_bb_24. After opening, the same initial (say ss_bb_24) should be come in the index (sheet name) file autometically.

When you say only open if your initials are entered I've taken the liberty of assuming that this will form some kind of 'password protection' for your workbook? If so something like this may be appropriate:

Where the sheet "Macro", is just an sheet saying something along the lines of "You must enable macro's to use this workbook". (To stop someone simply turning them off to bybass the part when you enter your initials. To make this effective, we need to hide all the sheets on closing the macro, hence:

Thanks mikeyfear. But I dont want any password like this. I just want anyone who is opening this XLS file, he/she should enter his/her name in the message box(input) place. The same name will apear into the C2 cell of "Input" sheet which is the name of the sheet 2 & this sheet is hiden. It would be written like this in "Input" sheet:-

"the offer made by" (its typed in B2 cell) = ss_bb_24(it should appeared in C2 cell, if I open this file by giving my name ss_bb_24).

    Is this what you need?

If another user entered the sheet next, would you want their details in c3 etc?
