correlating month to number

I'm new to coding and trying to write some code that examines the content of a cell and changes the content of another cell. I have created a combo box using a validation with the twelve months of the year and would like that when a month is selected its corresponding number (1-12) appears in an adjacent cell. Here is my code

Where should i place this code? Will this code even work?
The month string is stored in a merged cell that consist of I2:N2.

Please ignore, I found out a quicker, easier way to do it using Vlookup.

Hello dlroo,

If you have the list in a validation list then the link cell will hold the selection index number. If all you have is January through December in your list, the index will equal the month number.
