Cut and Paste cells without moving cell references

If there a simple way to turn off automatic cell reference changing? I.e if cell A1 had the formula "=$A$4" and I cut A4 and pasted it in A8, the formula in A1 would still be "=$A$4" and not "=$A$8".

The googled solution, suggest a find and replace code ie all the '=' with # at the start, then vice versa at the end of the code. Which would work fine in the example above, but I have parts of sheet/workbooks, I do want to move the references and parts that I dont, do I'd have to be doing the find replace many many times .

Surely there is a simple "AutoReference = False" or similar that im missing, so I can add in for the sections I do/dont want the references to change?

One way is to name the range. Then the formula or calculation would be based on the named ranges rather than a specific cell on the work sheet. So instead of the formula being "=$A$4" it would be "=TotalCell". Then you could move it anywhere you want and it would still "=TotalCell".
