Stephen, please do not respond to questions that a moderator has asked the OP to amend for infringing the Rules, this in fact breaks Rule#7
roy - if you look you'll see there was a minute between our posts and your's wasn't there when I posted. As it happens when I notice a dodgy thread title or missing code tags I do usually mention it, even though I'm not a mod.
I've seen many occasions on which people have answered a thread contravening the rules but never before a mod making a similar comment.
Your answer wasn't there after I posted, probably it showed up afterwards. I can't speak for other moderators, but I feel that any infringement of the rules needs addressing. We are working hard to make this Forum a useful & enjoyable environment. It's really frustrating to see a question answered that needs amending by the OP like in this case, which means the OP needn't bother with the moderator's comments. Admitted in this case the timing means that it probably was unwitting on your part.

I'm not arguing that infringements of the rules don't need addressing.

My point was that perhaps you could cut me some slack. I'd like to think that my contribution to this place has been modest but on balance positive. I don't get thanked by moderators for that, but I don't expect to, I'm not complaining, but by the same token I would expect not be treated like an errant schoolboy.
I know this may seem like im breaking some sort of rule here but how do you change the title of a thread/post. Thanks for the explanation about the code thow.
